In our commitment to foster creative thinking and innovation in our local schools, the Arts Council of Greater Weston proudly presents the 7th Annual Student Artist Showcase!
The 2013 Annual Student Artist Showcase runs throughout the month of April at the Weston Branch Library.
A reception was held for the artists, teachers and their families. Weston City Commissioners Thomas Kallman, Toby Feuer, and Angel Gomez were on hand to present awards.
Each year, every art teacher in Greater Weston’s public and private schools is asked to select up to 12 student artworks for exhibition at the Weston Branch Public Library. Every participant receives an award of participation and arts educators from the community are invited to select 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards in grade categories.

As voted by the readers of Our City WESTON! Celebrate the Arts Day was voted Best Cultural Event 2013!
This day of artistic celebration was sponsored by the Arts Council of Greater Weston in partnership with Weston Town Center and the City of Weston.
Young At Art Museum participated with an open studio for all ages to try out their artistic abilities.
Weston Philharmonic and Jammin Kids brought instruments for a please touch the instruments “Playing Patch”
the Weston Art Guild set up a display of members work.
Sagemont Upper School and Cypress Bay Band, Chorus and Drama departments provided entertainment throughout the day.
There was music and dance on the streets of Town Center Saturday evening as the crowds were entertained by professional dancers and then treated to dance lessons by those same professionals!
To get things started Zumba instructor Isabel Maldonada excited the crowd and then called in her flash mob for an all out Zumba experience!
As the moon rose and the stars came out, Casa Salsa dancers Viviana Arboleda and Jesus Cuba demonstrated a rhythmic Salsa before the audience joined in to learn the steps.
Dancers Inez Ramirez and Monica Lange from Angeles Gitanos Flamenco Dance Studio demonstrated their art before breaking down the steps for the audience.
Finishing out the evening, Line Dancing instructor Lisa Spangler and friends engaged the audience in some good ole Country Western steps!Celebrate dance was presented in partnership with The Arts Council of Greater Weston, Mujeres Latinas Impulsandas, Weston Town Center and The City of Weston. Thanks to the Great team Pachi, Allen and Duke from Jimmy Jam Productions!
